Interior Design, Custom Furniture, Millwork and Carpet Design, FF & E Specification, Construction Documents, Field Supervision and Coordination

Description -

Inspired by the creative genius of architects Greene & Greene, the Lodge at Torrey Pines uniquely embodies the spirit of the Arts and Crafts movement.  The guest rooms of the existing hotel were demolished and replaced by new guest wings. Public areas were extensively renovated and expanded adding a new ballroom and a full service spa and fitness center. KSDS was responsible for the design of all guest rooms, suites and public areas. In an effort to properly pay homage to this distinctive period in architectural history, extensive research was undertaken, resulting in a high level of expertise in the Arts and Crafts Movement.

Lobby

Description -

The lobby celebrates the work of Charles and Henry Greene in every detail, from the finely crafted millwork and to the meticulously replicated light fixtures and furniture. The custom stained glass entry doors were created by the same art glass studio that partnered with Greene & Greene on many of their historic homes.

A.R. Valentien

Description -

A. R. Valentien, the signature restaurant at The Lodge at Torrey Pines, takes its name from the talented early 1900’s California artist. The work of architects Greene & Greene is honored in the custom designed millwork, furniture and light fixtures.

the grill

Description -

The Grille serves both guests of The Lodge at Torrey Pines as well as golfers at the famed Torrey Pines Golf Course. For The Grille, KSDS created a casual environment rich with Craftsman details. The space is enhanced with custom designed furnishings and a hand hammered copper hood at the display kitchen.

meeting venues

Description -

The meeting spaces are rich with architectural millwork detailing reminiscent of Greene & Greene.  Many of their residential light fixtures were reinterpreted to an appropriate scale for these larger spaces.

The Spa at torrey pines

Description -

Because The Spa serves both the guests of the Lodge at Torrey Pines and the adjacent Hilton Torrey Pines it needed to have its own unique identity while respecting the Arts and Crafts styling of The Lodge. To this end the design team turned to the work of Charles Rennie Mackintosh for inspiration. Many of the furnishings were custom designed to create this unique environment.
